Embarking on an adventure with Wine Valley Adventures is an exciting journey, and we want to ensure that you have all the information you need to make the most of your experience. Here, we’ve gathered answers to some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) to guide you through the ins and outs of your upcoming adventure.

What Should We Wear?

For optimal comfort and safety, we recommend wearing long pants (such as gym pants, joggers, or jeans) and closed shoes (trainers are suitable). Men are advised to opt for tight underwear for a more comfortable ride. Additionally, long-sleeved shirts made from appropriate material work well to protect from the sun.

What Should We Bring?

Your guide will carry water, and you can request a saddlebag for additional personal items. If you have specific sunscreen preferences, feel free to bring your own.

What Time Should We Arrive?

Arrive at least 30 minutes before your booking time for the briefing and helmet fitting. Late arrivals may result in a forfeiture of riding time or the entire trip. Electronic indemnity forms must be completed in advance, these will be emailed to you 24 hours before your booking and participants under 18 need their legal guardian’s signature.

Where Do We Meet Our Guide?

Your guide will meet you at Lust Bistro on Vrede en Lust Wine Estate. Arriving early? Grab a coffee and announce yourselves to the staff.

What If It Rains?

Your safety is our priority. In the case of heavy rain, we’ll keep an eye on the weather forecast and attempt to reschedule. If that’s not possible, a full refund will be issued.

Can I Still Ride if My Partner Is a Beginner?

Absolutely! We strive to ensure everyone has a great ride. Beginners walk, while experienced riders may get a chance to trot or canter, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants.

Will We Be Riding with Other Groups?

Typically, we avoid mixing groups to provide a personalized experience. On rare occasions when mixing is necessary, additional guides ensure everyone gets the ride they desire.

Weight Restrictions?

For horse riding, the weight limit is 95kg. If you exceed this limit, alternative options like Quad Biking (110kg limit) or Carriage Drives (no limits) are available.

Can I Bring My Baby/Toddler?

For safety reasons, we do not allow children to ride with adults. Childcare arrangements should be made for the duration of the trail. Carriage rides have no age restrictions.

Where Can We Eat?

Lust Bistro offers delicious meals, coffee, and wines. Additionally, neighboring farms like Plaisir de Merle and Babylonstoren boast world-class wines and restaurants.

Do We Need to Wear Helmets?

Yes, all guests must wear helmets as per our insurance policy. Helmets are provided, and riders are required to wear them throughout the activity.

Do You Ride English or Western?

Our saddles are mainly English-style GP saddles, but the horses are familiar with both English and Western riding.

Is Drinking Allowed?

Horse riding while drinking is at your own risk. For quads, clients must be free of drugs and alcohol, and forfeiting the tour is possible if under the influence.

How Can We Communicate with You?

WhatsApp is the preferred method of communication, and you can reach out by clicking this link.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

Refer to our Terms and Conditions for detailed information on our cancellation policy.

What If We Arrive Late?

We’ll do our best to accommodate late arrivals if you let us know you’re going to be late in advance, but refunds for late arrivals or missed bookings are not possible.

Where Can We Leave Bags?

Currently, we recommend leaving bags in your vehicles or with your guides. Lock-up lockers will be available soon.

How Do I Get to You?

Public transport in SA is not really a thing, so you may find your whole trip a little easier if you rent a car. However, in recent years the Uber network has improved dramatically and Uber is pretty reliable.

If you do not have a car, you can Uber. I can also arrange for transfers, but it will be more expensive than Uber.

Can Someone Wait for Me While I Ride?

Lust Bistro is open seven days a week, providing a pleasant waiting area with Wi-Fi and a playground.

Do I Need to Book in Advance?

Yes, bookings should be made at least 2 hours in advance. Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of payment.
